Welcome to the Department of Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engg. is a branch of Engg , where the engineers convert the raw material into useful products by suitable conversion processes like distillation, absorption, adsorption, evaporation, crystallization etc. Generally Chem. Engg. branch is divided into three stages – the treatment of raw material, proper chemical transformation & the separation of desired chem. products. There are a lot of chemical industries throughout the country including West Bengal. Generally this Engg. branch deals with the essential needs of mankind. The basic needs are Foods, Clothing & Housing, Heath, Energy Consumption, Communication, Application of Natural Sources, Protection of Environment etc.

Welcome to the Department of Chemical Engineering, Contai Polytechnic. This diploma in Chermical Engineering course was started at Contai Polytechnic from 2008. There are Sixty (60) Intake  for this course. After completion of Diploma Course a lot of Students  have got different Job  by Campus Interview in different Company like Haldia Petrochemicals, Mitsubishi Chemicals, ITC, Gokul Ref. Oil & Solvent Limited, Matix Fertilizers etc.

HOD Message

The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in the year 2008 and currently offering Diploma Program with 60 in-take. Students are admitted to these programmes based on the merit list of their JEXPO & VocLet examination. The department has well qualified faculty dedicated to teaching and doing research in fundamental and advanced areas. The Department has been producing competent Chemical Engineers to the society right from its inception. The Department is well equipped with all the required laboratories as per the curriculum, follows a well-disciplined teaching-learning process, and maintains a win-win student-teacher relationship on campus.
The students after completing the diploma program are absorbed into reputed firms through campus placements like Haldia Petrochemicals, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL), Jindal South West (JSW), Jindal Steel Ltd. (JSL), Mitsubishi Chemicals, ITC, Gokul Ref. Oil & Solvent Limited, Matix Fertilizers etc.. The department aims at inculcating lifelong learning skills in the students. The department has dedicated all the activities for the benefit of chemical industry and society. All the experienced and devoted faculty members are involved deeply to shape up the career of students. The faculty members keep monitoring on student’s attendance, behaviour and discipline to ensure positive attitude & personality development.
